COLOR CONTROL:

COLOR MENUS:

Color menus allow adjustment of all screen colors.

CTRL-C invokes the main color menu in normal waveform and spectrum modes, and also in spectrogram mode.

The first item in each color menu is the PALETTE. There are two separate palette systems: one for waveform and spectrum modes (called "main"), and one for Spectrogram mode. Each system allows a separate multi-palette file to be saved or loaded. Selecting a new palette from among those in the file currently loaded will change all screen colors to the new palette values.

For waveform and spectrum modes, screen features like TRACE, GRID, and AXES are adjusted by selecting from the upper menu. When ENTER is hit, the cursor arrow will move to the boxed submenu, leaving behind a place-mark (*). Submenu items may then be selected and adjusted as for normal menus.

In spectrogram mode, individual color weights may be adjusted by a similar upper menu / submenu process.

This Help system has its own palette in waveform and spectrum modes, allowing adjustment of text, link, Help cursor, and background colors. When the upper Help system is active, this palette is used automatically, and is the palette that will appear when you enter the Color control menu. If Help is not active, you can still manually roll to the Help Palette from the Palette item. The Help Palette is not used for the lower Help system, or when Help is active in the Spectrogram mode.

Monitor contrast and brightness controls can have a big effect on color balance. Since Daqarta may allow more control over colors than many of the other programs that your system will be running, you might want to set the monitor controls for optimum results with your other programs. Then create custom palettes for best results with Daqarta, and avoid further adjustments to the monitor. This is particularly important if you want to have a smooth Spectrogram color sequence, since slight monitor changes can completely change the visual weights of adjacent colors.

Items in the main color menu are:

  • TRACE: Sets the color of the main trace.
  • ALT: Sets the color of alternate traces, used for Memory Array, window shape view, stimulus view, etc.
  • TEXT: For the Help mode palette, sets the normal text color.
  • SCRN: Sets the screen background color of the trace area. This color is also used for the expanded portion of the Xpand bar. For the Help mode palette, sets the text background used when upper Help is active.
  • GRID: Sets the color of the verticl and horizontal grid dots in the trace area.
  • LINK: For the Help mode palette, sets the color of hypertext links that the cursor highlight can move to.
  • CURS: Sets the color of the trace cursor lines, as well as the menu cursor outline. For the Help mode palette, sets the color used to highlight the current hypertext link.
  • AXES: Sets the color of the vertical and horizontal axes, including the axis lines, tick marks, and all labels. This color is also used for for the Trigger control menu Level/ Slope indicator bar, the Averager menu artifact rejection limit bar, and the portion of the Xpand bar corresponding to the area not expanded.
  • LABEL: Sets the color of all title line labels, the main cursor readout units labels, the option key letters, and all message line entries, including error messages, prompts, and comment entries.
  • MENUS: Sets the color of all control menu and key option items.
  • PANEL: Sets the color of the overall screen background, not including the trace background (set by SCRN).
