File Info - Samples

Controls: File Menu >> File Info >> Samples

This is the number of samples per channel in the file. For most files, this will be the number of sample periods or time points in the data set. For single-screen files this will usually be 1024 samples. DDiskx files will be at least 1024 samples and usually much more.

Wave averages are always 1024 samples, even though each file sample is the Frames total of individual samples. (The data are displayed as averages by dividing each file sample by the total Frames.)

The exception is spectrum averages. These are always listed here as 512 samples, but each "sample" is really one spectral line. There are 512 spectral lines produced from 1024 original waveform time samples, and the spectral lines from successive averager frames are summed to produce the file values.
