Restoring The Default Generator Setup

You should restore the default 440 Hz sine wave Generator setup to provide a known-good starting point for diagnosis of sound output distortion problems.

Alternatively, you may just want to get back to a known setup after making extensive changes that would be cumbersome to undo.

If there is any chance you might want to keep the old setup, be sure to save it under a name other than Setup.GEN before proceeding. This may be especially important if you are troubleshooting a distortion problem: If changing to the default setup seems to cure the problem, you may want to go back and try to figure out what was wrong with the old setup.

If you've already changed Setup.GEN, you can load Default.GEN instead, which is a copy of the original Setup.GEN. However, if you've changed that as well, there is still a way to get a new Setup.GEN:

Setup.GEN is loaded automatically each time Daqarta starts, but if that file isn't found then Daqarta creates a new default setup, which you can then save or modify. So all you need to do in order to get a fresh setup is to delete Setup.GEN.

To delete any setup, click on either Save Setup or Load Setup in the Generator dialog, or in the File menu. Right-click on the setup you want to delete (Setup.GEN in this case). This will pop up a list of options; select Delete from the list and click on it. A delete confirmation prompt will appear; click on Yes and the setup file will be deleted. Important: After the deletion is completed, click Cancel to leave the Save or Open dialog without taking any further action.

Now you have to exit Daqarta and restart to get the new default setup to be created. If you want to avoid repeating all this in the future, save the new setup as Default.GEN (or any name of your choice). Then the next time you want to restore the default, just load it with Load Setup... no restarting needed. Note: Make sure that if you modify this setup after loading, you do not save it under the same name.
