Linear Spectrum Average
Controls: Spect Avg Dialog >> Linear
Linear spectrum averaging is analogous to linear waveform averaging, in that the averager accumulates frames linearly until the requested total is reached, then it stops and Pause mode is entered. Signal output is unaffected if the Generator is active. A running Linear average will show the total number of frames accumulated in the Total Frames Counter beneath the toolbar Averager button. The total will stop incrementing when the average is done or when it is paused. It will be cleared when the average is abandoned, either by toggling the Averager off if it has not yet finished, or by toggling the Pause state off if it is done. Linear averaging is normally used to collect data where you need to specify a discrete number of frames for comparison with other data.
