Multi-Channel Sound Card Configuration

If you have a multi-channel sound card (such as 5.1 or 7.1 surround types), it normally defaults to a conventional stereo configuration. You must specifically enable multi-channel operation before you start Daqarta.

This can usually be done via the custom driver for your card, typically from its own desktop icon.

For Windows Vista/7/8/10/11 you can alternatively right-click the speaker icon in the system tray, then:

  • Right-click Playback Devices.
  • Click USB Sound Device (or whatever yours is called).
  • Click Configure at bottom left.
  • Select 7.1 Surround (or 5.1 Surround, etc).
  • Click Next to see Optional Speakers dialog, select all.
  • Click Next and select Full Range Speakers.
  • Click Next and exit.

Note that some cards either don't require custom driver installation, or else actually have advantages when run without it, using the driver that Windows installs by default. In such cases the above Vista/7/8/10/11 steps will still work. See the discussions of specific 5.1 and 7.1 cards under Sound Card Performance Tests.
