Macro Edit Name

Controls: Options >> Macro Dialog >> Edit >> Name

Each macro must have a unique Name entry, to be used when invoking it from other macros. The Name may include only alphanumeric characters and underscores; spaces or other characters are not allowed. The Name may be up to 31 characters long.

The names of subroutine macros (those invoked by other macros instead of directly by the user) start with a leading underscore. Although not mandatory, this convention is used for subroutines used in the Macro Examples and Mini-Apps included with Daqarta, as well as examples in this Help system.

The leading underscore insures that they are sorted to the bottom of the macro list where they will not be confused with those you invoke directly. By keeping the direct macros at the top of the list, it also means you don't need to scroll down to find them.

Note that Instant Macros use a default name of '~~~~' (four tilde characters), which is not valid for normal macro names.
