MIDI Setup Files

A MIDI Setup (.DQM file) holds all the control settings from the Pitch-to-MIDI and associated dialogs, including all Voice Setup and Percussion Setup dialogs, Custom Scales, Custom Chords, and Changes scripts.

The setup also includes Pitch Hysteresis and +/-Octaves from the Pitch Track Toolbox, as well as Track Threshold, Track Max and Min Frequencies, and Track Fundamental state from the Track Limits (Spectrum Track) dialog.

In addition, it holds the contents of the main Daqarta Notes text editor at the time the file was saved.

The current settings are automatically saved when you exit Daqarta, and restored when you next start.

You can Load or Save a specific setup at any time.

Setups are stored as proprietary .DQM files. These are portable and may be exchanged among Daqarta users and run on other systems.

Note: The .DQM file does not include most main Daqarta settings such as Trigger controls, which can have a large impact on Pitch-to-MIDI performance, as can microphone frequency response, sensitivity, and volume settings. Sample Rate and Trace Update interval can also affect performance, especially for Arpeggio and Note Lag.

If the .DQM file is intended for a DaqMusiq performance that uses the Daqarta Generator, note that the Generator Setup (.GEN file) must be loaded and saved separately.

You can use the Daqarta Notes text editor to save comments about those settings that are not included in the .DQM file, such as which .GEN file to use. The Notes text will be saved with the file and will be seen when it is later loaded. This information can serve as a guide to yourself or to someone you exchange files with, to best reproduce the original performance.

Since the setup includes all the Voice and Percussion control settings, even those for voices that are not used in the performance, you can actually use one .DQM setup to store two or more different performances, or special options for a single performance. The comments in the Notes text can tell the user to toggle certain voices and/or Changes scripts on or off to hear these variations.
