Spectrum Averager Frames Request

Controls: Spect Avg Dialog >> Frames Request
Macro: SpavgFrames

This sets the maximum number of frames to be accumulated in Linear or Peak modes. In Exponential mode it sets the effective time constant of the running average.

One frame consists of 1024 data samples. This yields a display of 512 spectral lines.

The Total Frames Counter (beneath the toolbar Averager button) shows the frames accumulated.

Hitting Pause at any time will suspend the accumulation of averager frames and freeze the display until unPause. It has no effect on the output signal.

In Peak mode you may want to set the frames request very high, and then terminate the operation with the Pause key. The maximum value is 2147483647 frames, but it is simplest to just enter 1, which activates Continuous Peak mode. (A single frame wouldn't otherwise be useful.) In this mode the total frames display will continue to increase until it reaches 2147483647, after which it will show 'Cont Peak' instead of a number. Peak operation will continue until you hit Pause.
