Introduction and Features
Daqarta is a general-purpose Data AcQuisition And Real-Time Analysis system. It allows waveforms, spectra, or spectrograms to be viewed live, rather than after separate collection and analysis steps. The display area can be made extra-large to allow maximum visibility for fine detail or distant viewing, and both axes are completely marked with unit divisions in a 1, 2, 5 sequence. Logarithmic X- and/or Y-axis scales may be used for spectrum display... all in real-time. Fast on any CPU. Works on Windows 95 and all later Windows versions, on systems with screen resolution of 640x480 or better. Uses standard Windows sound cards. Allows completely calibrated input and output ranges with built-in calibration system. Real-time display of up to 2 input and 2 output channels. Simultaneous synchronous stimulus generation. Free-floating resizeable Frequency Counter, Voltmeter, and Sound Level Meter. Waveform and/or spectrum averaging. 256-color Spectrogram frequency-time plots, full range control. Juxt multi-trace memory arrays. Complete scripted Macro automation system. Full pre- and post- trigger delay control. Dual continuous-readout trace cursors. Data may be saved to disk files for later review and analysis, including direct-to-disk ( DDisk) recording of long files. Daqarta writes and reads standard .WAV files as well as Daqarta's own .DQA extended .WAV format that includes important parameters and calibration information. Extensive context-sensitive Help system with tutorials and application examples. If you wish to use all features after the trial period, you must purchase Daqarta or else the signal input and auto-calibration features will no longer operate, nor will Juxt trace arrays or Macro file saves unless you purchase a Professional license. However, everything else continues to work normally, including signal generation and file analysis. Essentially, it reverts to a freeware signal generator. If that is all you need, you are welcome to use Daqarta in this mode for as long as you wish. (If you have already calibrated your sound card, the calibration remains in effect; you just won't be able to perform a new calibration.) The signal generator portion of Daqarta was previously available as DaqGen freeware. If you are already a DaqGen user and don't need to work with input signals, you may think that there is no point in using Daqarta to do this same job. But Daqarta, even after the trial expires, is much more useful than DaqGen because it has simultaneous Left and Right channel displays with full cursor readouts, including true RMS calculations on selected portions of the wave or spectrum. It also offers a Spectrogram display, weighting curves, User Unit calibration of outputs, and many other options. Best of all, Daqarta allows waveform file operations. You can save Generator output to create your own Arb or Play files, for example, and open long files for review of potential Arb or Play selections. The latest version of Daqarta will always be available on the Daqarta Website ( www.daqarta.com). If you wish to be notified of new releases, you can request that through the Contact page on the site. If you have any problems with Daqarta, please report them on the Contact page. All other feedback and questions are also welcome, and will help shape future versions of this software. Your questions will be answered promptly, usually within 24 hours. For older systems, the DOS version of Daqarta is still available. It works with ISA-bus Sound Blasters and equivalents, certain lab-type data acquisition boards, and LPTX home-brew boards that plug into a printer port. A Daqarta for DOS license is now free for hobby and personal use. See the Daqarta for DOS Download page at the above site for more information, and the proper drivers.
