Accessibility

Daqarta includes accessibility features to enable mouse-free operation of most controls. An effort has also been made to make controls compatible with voice synthesizers that read the Windows screen.

Note, however, that voice synthesizers typically share the same sound card output that the Daqarta Generator uses. To avoid interference with critical experiments, you may want to run them with the voice synthesizer turned off. The Audible Alert option in the Run Preferences dialog enables the MIDI Synthesizer to sound a tone indicating that the voice synthesizer should be turned back on to read an error or status message box.

You can also use the Macro system to automate complex tasks that might otherwise require multiple dialog and control changes. Each macro can be assigned a single-character ID and invoked via F8 plus the ID. A collection of macros can be saved for future sessions, and a macro can be set to run automatically at the start of each session.

Alternatively, the Instant Macro option allows you to operate Daqarta controls by hitting F8 followed by Spacebar, typing the relevant macro command (or list of commands), and hitting SHIFT+Enter to run it immediately. As with normal macros, there is no need to open or navigate dialogs.

Note that you can copy command text from an external text editor and paste it into an Instant Macro. This allows you to keep a collection of macros available for common tasks, organized in whatever manner you find convenient, using tools you are already comfortable with, while avoiding the normal Daqarta macro system. It won't be quite as fast as F8 plus an ID key to invoke any given macro, but you may find it more convenient to navigate and maintain. And best of all, it is free! (Otherwise, you need a Professional license to save normal macro files after the trial period.)
